Chatmeter offers a view of search insight metrics from Google and Yelp. These metrics can help you understand the frequency and search your listings appear in and, importantly, what actions people take when they are at the listing. Tracking listing metrics related to actions helps you to understand how and whether listings are converting into real-life transactions.
Note: Google changed their search metrics components, resulting in changes in LocationHQ search metrics in February 2023. For a listing of differences between previous and current search metrics, see the help article Changes to Google and Yelp Search Insights. This article reflects the current LocationHQ interface and metrics.
Chatmeter's search insights metrics are an aggregation of the common metrics between Google and Yelp. Chatmeter reports the following:
- Total Interactions—The sum of all user interactions on a listing (Google and Yelp)
- Total Searches—The number of times a listing appeared via a search (Google and Yelp)
- Total Views—The number of times a listing was viewed (Yelp)
The metrics include the total number and a percentage change from the period selected and the previous period of the same duration.
See Google and Yelp components contained in aggregate metrics for details of the components in the aggregate metrics.
See Search Insights Comparison Reports for information about comparing search insights metrics across locations and groups.
To view Search Insights, go to the Search Insights page in LocationHQ at Insights > (Dashboards) Search Insights.
On the Search Insights page, you can use the Global Filter to select the location, account, or group for which you'd like to view data. Use the Page Filters to select:
- Whether you want to view insights from Google or Yelp. (Yelp is available only for Yelp customers.)
- Duration (default, the last three months)
- Whether you want to view locations or groups
At the top of the Search Insights page, you'll find the totals and percentage of change for Total Interactions and Total Searches for Google. For Yelp, you'll find the totals and percentage of change for Total Interactions, Total Views, and Total Searches.
You can drill into the specifics for each chart in the lower pane. Select which sets of aggregate metrics to view from the tabs: Interactions, Search Appearances, or Views (only Yelp includes Views).
Note that you can select the data that is relevant to you for each of the aggregate metric sets. Toggle the components on or off by selecting them in the chart or graph legend.
The pie chart shows the percent of each data type represented. You can hover over the chart to see the specific data represented in the chart. The bar chart represents the same data. The line chart shows the change in data over the time selected.
You can select the Download menu to download spreadsheet reports of the data, including the components of the aggregate metrics that you've selected:
- Daily Report—Covers every day during the period you've selected
- Groups Comparison—Compares the groups you've included by filter
- Store Comparison—Compares the locations you've included by filter
